Hey there! I’m Chris, one of the Content Writers here at Own Your Space. I’ve been writing content professionally for around four years, though I’ve pretty much been scribbling away since I could hold a pen. Now, my focus is on crafting content that helps companies like you connect with your audience – putting just the right words in just the right order to make things happen.
When I’m not busy writing here at Own Your Space, I’m either lost in a good book, working on my novel, or voluntarily submerging myself in horribly cold water. I’ve just returned from spending two amazing years living in Okinawa, Japan where I ate my body weight in raw fish and learned to speak Japanese at a native level… as long as the native in question is 6 years old and not much of a talker.

I’d switch jobs with the trolley collector in Leicester Sainsbury’s, specifically on the day they found King Richard III buried under the car park. That guy has a belter of a story to tell at parties.
I’d have to say ‘The Heroes’ by Joe Abercrombie is my favourite book. Strange that the most human characters I’ve ever come across in fiction come from a world full of sword fights and magic.
At the risk of sounding like That Guy, I love going to the gym or going for a run. It sends the happy chemicals into my brain.
I’ve previously worked in small in-house marketing teams, so it’s amazing to work alongside a much bigger team full of people who are genuinely incredible at what they do. They say the best way to improve is to surround yourself with people who know more than you, so I think I’ve found the ultimate spot to do that at Own Your Space!
I reckon the best advice I ever received was to “never lose sight of the ‘why’”. It’s easy in marketing to mindlessly follow a process “because it’s the way things are done” or work on something “because it feels right”. But the only way to make sure you’re moving forward is to focus on the end result you want and work backwards from there.
